Oceanside Maternity Session

I have known Ashley for a few years, through mutual friends. I found out she was expecting again, and I was honored to photograph her 3rd pregnancy. She had one request! She asked to be photographed by the beach, as she knew that her baby growing inside her was going to be an ocean-child. In Hawaii it’s pretty easy to choose beaches that are beautiful and photo-worthy, but when you are drawn to the ocean for a great purpose, - you do it. Ashley’s original choice was not where we ended up photographing, with road construction in progress, and pending storm conditions along with time restraints – we had to choose an alternative. When we arrived we were stoked that everything worked out! It was not as far to drive, there were next to no one on the beach and there was not much wind (rarely happens here).

Ashley, had also asked if I had any Maternity dresses/gowns she could wear? I thought I would never be asked! I have been finding hidden treasures over the last couple of years at thrift stores, department store sales, and online purchases. These items are not just for maternity, but for other kinds of portrait sessions. After finding out the style of dresses and colors she liked she chose a stunning teal green one shoulder figure flattering dress, and then a red eye catching flowy dress that was light and fun – with a hint of a Spanish feel to it. Ashley had her own accessories with her that paired perfectly with the teal green dress! I also made her a fresh Haku Lei (Flower crown), and felt that is came out beautiful with a variety of colors and also matched her dresses!
